Making Sense of a World in Motion
Is the world finally healing?
From Brazil's political developments to the latest updates in the US, it feels like there's always another global plot twist unfolding. 😅
These headlines remind me of Factfulness by Hans Rosling. It taught me three things that have stayed with me: look beyond the noise, question my assumptions, and understand the bigger picture through data and long-term trends.
The appreciation of trends makes a huge difference. Not everything is getting worse, even when the news makes it feel that way. There is progress worth recognizing, but there are also realities we cannot afford to ignore.
Poverty and inequality persist. Climate change and environmental degradation continue to threaten communities and ecosystems. Cybersecurity risks are growing, while geopolitical tensions keep the world on edge.
And more than anything, I'm still praying hard that the wars will finally come to an end. That fewer lives will be lost, families will be reunited, and peace will become more than just something we hope for.
Perhaps the challenge is to stay informed without being consumed by the headlines. To recognize progress without becoming complacent. To remain hopeful while staying grounded in facts and guided by action.
I still believe the best is yet to come. Not because the world is perfect, or because things will magically get better, but because progress is possible when we understand where we are, acknowledge what needs to change, and choose to do our part.
Still hopeful. Still praying. Still questioning. Still believing in better days. 🌏🕊️
